[Cat-F] Case Mod: Lunar Serenity - (Completed)

You're totally right !!! :good:
Big news today... :yahoo:

Earlier today I received another box sent by WAZ.

Image

I was a little impressed with the larger size of the box, but after opening it, was only joy! :D
Inside the big box I found a Gainward GTX275 896MB Golden Sample sent to substitute my old 8600GTS.

Specs:
Product Name: Gainward GTX275 896MB GS
Barcode: 426018336-0582
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce® GTX275
GPU Clockspeed: 648 MHz
Memory: 896 MB GDDR3 (448 bits)
Memory Clockspeed: 1185 MHz
Bandwidth: 132,72 GB/s
Ramdac: 400 MHz
Bus: PCI-Express 2.0
Cooling: 2-Slot Fan
Video-Features: HDMI-Output
Connectivity: HDMI + DVI + VGA

Unfortunately, the internal space of SOLAR STORM wasn't designed for a VGA of that size (yes, it is huge ... are 2 of 80mm fans side by side plus heatsink for both sides  ) I will have to wait for the LUNAR SERENITY be ready for testing the performance of this incredible card.

Image

I want to thank the Image for this important contribution to my project. :clapping:

Updating ...

Remember the holes in the previous update?
So let's see how the work was that part of the case ...

- Mount LEDs for finishing the top cover.
I did an assembly with the resistors all together for the LEDs on the top cover.
Like I always do, I used a 470 Ohm resistor for LED, linking each individual one.
The assembly was made with a ribbon cable for floppy and blue LEDs of 3mm.

Image Image Image Image

After soldering the wires, resistors and LEDs, I tried to distribute the LEDs through the holes and stake everything with hot glue on the inside of the top cover.
You see, since the case back to the original position, the assembly is totally out of reach of curious eyes ...

Image

After setting the LEDs and resistors, I put the case into right position and mounted the top cover and finishing.
Also mounted in front the logo (provisional) with backlight.

Image Image

A few adjustments in the height and position of the LEDs with a few fingers burned by hot glue (no pictures because I forgot to take them because I'm cursing the hot glue) and ready ... (almost) Final version of the top cover ...

Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

Detail: top finishing with the white fan turned off and on ..

Image Image

Overview: Front of case with the white fans turned off ...
Note: I put the fan controller in the first bay, just below the logo, and it came to life with plenty of light from the backlight. It was very beautiful with the blue glow ...

Image Image Image

Detail: base with lighting corrected ... the fugitive LED (identified in the photos of the previous update), fixed on the inside part of the base.
The brightness are much more intense now.

Image

To finish the post, they are two options for the logo with backlight ...

1) LUNAR SERENITY

Image

2) ASGNETO Casemods

Image

Which is the best option ?

Thats Awesome work you have done with the LED,s and the use of an old IDE cable, well done!

I think the Signature panel looks the best out of the Two!!

Congratulations on the video card!!! nice reward!!!

Great work!!! :hello:

About the build sig I think you should go with the one that has the name of the build and the other one try to stick it on the bottom (front bezel) or in one of the side panel... because is important that people watching your project know the name and who build it!!! :)

I smell something like asgneto.com in the near future!!!

So far, the signature was the option with the most votes.
:good:

Your suggestion is very good ... I think about it.
I just need to find an place for making the stickers.
As far as I know, near here there is none.

The asgneto.com is a old project that I has already started and abandoned several times. :banghead:

Updating ...

- Assembly of the side panels ...
As reported since the beginning of the project, the side panels of the case will be divided into 2 parts allowing easier access to the hardware.
To enable this assembly, I need to make use of "supports" at the bigger piece so that the smallest part does not come loose.
This "support", is essential for this unusual assembly, were disguised as trim, or details, that have aesthetic and functional uses.

Below, photos of the right side panel ... Note the parts of blue acrylic (installed inside) and the "LS" (installed outside) that achieve these functions.
They are mounted to prevent the crystal acrylic (part of the side that seems empty) to move out or into the side of the case.

Image

In detail ...
Notice that the side is left down the case, making a skirt of 1cm to hide part of casters, the blue Cold Cathode and inverter and the on/off switches.

Image

In detail ...
Apparently, there is a shadow, or spacing between the LS and the flip side ... not?
But there is no spacing ... That there is a small exhibition of the edge of acrylic reagent blue waiting for some special effects ... but it is not surprising.

Image
Image

Note1.: The pictures had their background changed with the filter "stamp" in Photoshop to hide the mess of my yard.
The part showing the case has not been edited.
Note 2: the sides are not ready ... has two more details that are not in the photos and will be keeped for the final photos.

- Test light (part 2) ...
A new test light to check the changes made and the effect on the side panels.

1) Only the white fans lit (NEW MOON):

2) The white fans and a blue CCFL installed under the case (FIRST QUARTER) :

3) The white fans and LEDs (LAST QUARTER) :

4) All lit: fans, CCFL and LEDs (FULL MOON) :

BONUS ...
My case in final assembly and my greatest treasure: my 7 years old daughter .
She is already following in the footsteps of his father and loves to make mods on toys, bike, helmet and so on. hehehehehehehe

For those who want more photos...
I already have another update almost done. Just translate the text and upload pictures.

Thanks !!!!
I'm using 1024x768 on all photos ... in most forums, there is a automatic resizing and this makes it much easier. I just need to use the thumbs here and another forum in Brasil, in all others, I can send the photos in full size. But this is not a big problem since there is now an option to resize here. :good:
